What is Accompany - Family Residence Permit

First degree relatives of foreign nationals that come to our country for any reason and get a residence permit may also get a residence permit for accompanying purposes. The foreign national that has the residence permit will have a status of supporter in this case. Accordingly, foreign spouse of the supporter, minor foreign child of the supporter or his/her spouse, and the major foreign child the supporter or his/her is obliged to look after although the child in question has turned 18 may also apply for a family residence permit.

Residence permit for foreigners married to a Turkish citizen

Foreign nationals that are married to a Turkish citizen may apply for a residence permit once their civil marriage is solemnised.

• Are foreign nationals that accompany a Turkish citizen child eligible for getting a residence permit?
  In case of family residence permits, such persons will be considered as individuals that cover the expenses of foreign nationals that will come to Turkey for the purposes of unity of family, and that are referred to as the basis for application by the applicants of the residence permit, as Turkish citizens or that are legally staying in Turkey, or as "supporter".
  As children below 18 years of age will not have an income, they are not considered as supporter. For this reason, foreign mother or father of a Turkish citizen child may not accompany the child, or may not get a family residence permit. Such foreign nationals may get a "short term residence permit" though.
